Standing up to the banks: how to challenge your foreclosure Posted on July 30, 2008 by Ellen Brown http://webofdebt.wordpress.com/ In response to an article I posted recently called "Standing Up to the Banks," www.webofdebt.com/articles, a number of people have written to ask for help in defending their foreclosure actions. I started to put together materials, when I discovered that it had already been done. The Consumer Warning Network is an excellent website providing specifi...

Rich, Yes. As long as the newly moved into residence is going to be your homestead (i.e. primary residence) then portability is applicable.

IS FLORIDA Taking away property value because of the additional exemption?

My property value used to be over 75000. Now it is under so I can't claim the additional homestead. Has anyone else noticed that the property or land is decreased this year to put them under the figure to obtain the additional Homestead exemption because it would mean less money to Palm Beach if the property were valued over the 75000? I figured that the Corrupt County would find a way to get around the increased homestead... and it's obvious they are being unethical at best.

Why is my assessed value higher when my market value was lowered this year

It still doesn't make sense. I have the same market value on the house but the land value decreased by thousands of dollars. My assessment would be less than last year even with the 3 percent it would seem.

Being denied our Homestead Exemption

FYI, even an extended absence is not a valid reason to deny homestead tax exemption. Also Deb stated "If you are just trying to take advantage though and really don't have any plans to move back in just take the exemption on the new property."...That is allowed. In fact 'taking advantage' of the HEX and the system in regards to HEX, is supported by the courts.

If you are only going away for a couple weeks at a time and rent out the place from time to time during the periods you are gone.. I wouldn't sweat it. You should be able to keep your exemption I would think. If the home is your primary residence FOR REAL and you do actually live there for more than 6 months or so a year don't see the problem. If you have FL Driver's license and plates as well as utilities and other bills in your name you should have no problem showing ownersh...

FBI saw threat of mortgage crisis

FBI saw threat of mortgage crisis A top official warned of widening loan fraud in 2004, but the agency focused its resources elsewhere. By Richard B. Schmitt Los Angeles Times Staff Writer August 25, 2008 WASHINGTON — Long before the mortgage crisis began rocking Main Street and Wall Street, a top FBI official made a chilling, if little-noticed, prediction: The booming mortgage business, fueled by low interest rates and soaring home values, was starting to attract shady operators an...
