SAVE OUR HOMES PORTABILITY UPDATE!
Now that we are gaining momentum, let's get SOH Portability over the finish line.
In today's St. Petersburg Times, there is an excellent article explaining the
differences in various tax relief proposals in the House and Senate. It goes on
to say that the House vote on portability may be the key to resolving the impasse.
The Palm Beach Post article fully explains our proposal for which we are getting
overwhelming support.
What can you do to help?
1. Contact your State Senator and advocate her/him to support full portability.
2. Gov. Charlie Crist is holding a series of Town Hall meetings. (He has one
tomorrow, April 24th at 6:00 p.m. at the Palm Beach Community College,
Meldon Lecture Hall, 3160 PGA Blvd., Palm Beach Gardens). Please
attend one of his meetings and voice your support for portability.
3. If you are a member of the Florida Association of Realtors, please
voice your support for full portability. Although they no longer oppose full
portability, they still are in favor only of limited (county options approach),
which would take years to activate and create additional hurdles.
Let us work towards having SOH Portability placed on the November ballot
so that the citizens of Florida can have a chance to vote in favor of property
tax reform. I am confident that with your support we can prevail and remove a major
financial tax burden and re-ignite the recovery of the housing market.
