I just recently got approved for the extra Senior homestead exemption. Since I am almost 85 now I could have been receiving it for many years if I had just known about it. You need to be at least 65 and the adjusted gross income from your tax return has to be lower than $27,030. Nothing is automatic so it is up to each person to file their own. All the imformation is available by computer including the necessary form. While taking my morning walk I have mentioned this to three of my neighbors that qualify but had never heard of it. Natuarally they will be filling for next year.
