storm caused our healthy tree to fall in neighbors yard, did not cause damage but we do not speak with these neighbors because of a prior incident and also they are not here right now as they have another residence, i cleaned up the branches as far as i could reach over the fence. there is about 10ft. of branches on their side. am i liable to clean up their side ? if they ask us to should i get written permission from them first? and also what should i do if they get here and throw the branches back over the fence? i live in florida.

if a tree falls in your yard by an act of god, the disposal of that tree is your responsibility. this is according to your own site. now i am really confused. please respond.

You said the tree was yours. Therefore, it's your responsibility, particularly if you damage or encroach on other's property. What is confusing?

ok, fla. law from 2006 which i found on this web site, as i said states if a limb falls in your yard from the neighbors house, you are responsible because it is now on your property. if my tree was blown down the street, am i supposed to go look for it to clean it up. i just got through picking up many limbs and other debris which did not come from my yard. could you please tell me which florida law or statute you are referring to that says i have to remove a tree from my neighbors yard.

ok, now i see that you are the author of what i was reading on the site. so you said according to court cases, not according to law. so is there a law or not?

No state law to my knowledge, but there may be a local ordinance.
