I bought my son a townhouse to live in to go to college. How can I get a homestead for this residence? Second question is, if I move out of Florida and he resides there, is this residence entitled for Homestead exemption?

Rob,

If your son has legal or equitable title to this home, he can apply for the homestead tax exemption in the county of the residence at the county office of the property appraiser. The residence would be entitled to the tax exemption as long as it remains his primary residence. Make sure to file by March 1st.
