For months I have heard the pleas from citizens across the state, "We need tax relief." The great Florida Legislature has given the people the opportunity to create a historic $12 billion property-tax cut. This tax relief is in addition to the $15 billion tax cut passed earlier this summer.
Together, they add up to $27 billion in property-tax cuts over five years. I believe Florida's homeowners will agree--that's good news for Floridians.
Months ago, lawmakers passed landmark legislation to create the largest tax cut in Florida's history and I signed the first part of the tax
break into law this summer.
Many Floridians are already reaping the benefits and because of that historic cut, taxes are not increasing this year as they have done in the past. Instead, Floridians are seeing the results of the tax roll-back in their mailboxes as local governments are required to reduce tax rates.
But that was just the first part of the tax cut. Last week, the House and Senate voted to put a property tax cut plan on the January ballot that would save taxpayers by doubling the homestead exemption and making the "Save our Homes" benefit portable.
Recently I traveled across the state to share more information about this historic tax cut with the citizens of Florida. I continue to work for our great state and its citizens and today I am in Brazil working on economic trade programs to ensure Florida continues to flourish.
You too have the power to help ensure Florida continues to flourish by voting 'Yes on 1' to lower your tax bill on January 29, 2008 and help jump start our real estate economy.
Visit Yeson1Florida.com to learn more about the constitutional amendment and sign the online petition to show your support.
God bless you and the great state of Florida
