I lent a friend money to purchase a house, he was to pay me when he sold. He sold and took all proceeds and purchased another house and filed for homestead exemption. Is there a case where this has happened and homestead exempt was set aside?

No. You may have to sue and obtain a money judgment. How you are going to collect is another nightmare.

I did sue and I received a perfect judgement. I was awarded $170,000. I cannot believe that the courts would allow this person to take money which was used to invest in property, and allow him to then conceal it in a homestead. This seems to me to be illegal. He also borrowed more money on non exempt properties and put that money in homestead as well. I am not a lawyer but I read some of the law and I understood it to be intentionally avoiding creditors??? How can this person be protected. I am left with out my money and he has a house completely paid for. Something is not right. If you have any thoughts it would be appreciated.

It may be considered a 'fraudulent transfer'. Do a search here and I will also, and post what I find.
