We are experiencing today more than ever a rise in credit card debt and there seems to be no end in sight. The economy seems to be getting worse and this makes it hard for people to buy the things they need everyday. Most people who do not make enough money will charge everything form groceries to gas because they must have these items to survive. Then you may get into a situation were you have more monthly credit card bills than you can afford.

What will happen if you decide that you just can't pay all the credit card bills that you have? The first thing that will happen if you miss a payment is that the credit card company will up your interest rate to the maximum amount and this can be 25-45%. The problem is you will be paying back so much extra interest that it will not seem worth it.

You will get many threatening calls if you decide to stop paying your credit card bills. Remember that you have rights and these companies are not allowed to threaten you with things like, "going to jail" or "taking your home from you", this is illegal for them to do that. It is also important to understand that they are not allowed to talk to any member of your family accept you.

One great option is for you to get debt relief and do it quickly because you do not want to keep having these creditors calling and bugging you night and day.

First: Protect your equity in your home and your income.
