PETITIONS TO CHALLENGE 2011 VALUE ASSESSMENTS:

You may file a petition to challenge your proposed 2011 assessment any time after the TRIM Notices are mailed in mid-August. The statutory deadline to file a 2011 value petition is September 19, 2011. If you miss the September 19 deadline, contact the VAB directly (see above) for details on "good cause" late filing for a value appeal. Note: The Property Appraiser does NOT set any tax rates. Under Florida law, you cannot petition the VAB to challenge the amount of TAXES you must pay. A value petition only challenges the proposed MARKET VALUE of the property. To protest your proposed tax rates, you must attend the public hearings listed on your TRIM Notice.
